Unfortunately, we couldn't go to the observatory across the bridge due to time constraints ㅜㅜㅜ But the front was still so pretty! It feels like being in nature ^p^ Gwaneumdo is a natural environment conservation area, so you can see various aquatic creatures (8 species of coastal invertebrates, bullet snails dominate the upper part of the rocky intertidal zone, and black-tailed snails dominate the lower part) that we don't usually see in 'that' environment, and you can see a lot of black-tailed gulls! What is the most delicious food in Ulleungdo? On the first day, as soon as I arrived, I ran to the Jeodong Port food alley and visited a famous restaurant that a sikgaek had visited. I ordered Osam Bulgogi and Tadak Kalguksu, and it was definitely worth a sikgaek. That evening, I visited Dokdo Restaurant and had Jajangmyeon and Jjambbong. The Jjajang was a bit salty, but the Jjambbong was really delicious. The seafood was incredibly fresh. The next day, while driving along the coastal road, I went to Daepung Restaurant near Hyeonpo Port. This place was famous for its local cuisine. As expected, I ordered Osam Bulgogi and Galbitang, and the Galbitang was really delicious. And for my last dinner, I chose Makchang and Samgyeopsal! The meat was just okay, but the Doenjang Jjigae was truly a work of art. I finally visited Bongrae Falls, which became a bucket list item for my Ulleungdo trip after seeing the heart-shaped falls! The admission fee is 2,000 won for adults, but if you reserve online in advance, you can get a 40% discount, so make sure to get it in advance. The path to the falls is a flat course with a slight uphill slope + stairs, but it is easy enough for young children. You can't go up close to Bongrae Falls, so you have to see it from the observatory about 300m away, but it is so big that you can see it well from the observatory. You can see the falls at the same eye level from the wooden deck, which is a great photo spot. After coming down, be sure to have a glass of refreshing pumpkin sikhye at the store across from the parking lot. The heat will quickly subside. Gwaneumdo, which is considered one of the three most beautiful places in Ulleungdo along with Samseonam and Jukdo, can be reached by walking through the Yeondogyo Bridge connecting Ulleungdo. The highlight of my Ulleungdo trip was undoubtedly the 'Dokdo Tour.' We departed early in the morning from Dodong Port and took a boat ride for about an hour and a half. As we approached, the silhouette of Dokdo began to emerge beyond the horizon. It was much larger and more majestic than I had imagined, and just seeing it from afar was deeply moving. Unfortunately, due to strong winds and waves, we couldn't land on Dokdo. However, even just circling around it on the boat and taking in the view was meaningful enough. It felt special to confirm with my own eyes that 'this land is undoubtedly part of Korea.' On the way back to Ulleungdo, near Dodong Port, I tried the famous barnacle kalguksu (knife-cut noodles). The warm broth was infused with the essence of the sea, and the chewy noodles paired perfectly with the tender barnacle meat. It was a meal that warmed both my body and soul. Although I couldn't physically step onto Dokdo, the journey from Ulleungdo to Dokdo itself was an experience that every Korean should have at least once in their lifetime. Setting sail from Hupo Ferry Terminal, the journey to Ulleungdo begins with growing excitement as the mainland fades into the distance. Arriving early in the morning at the terminal, travelers gradually gathered, and once aboard, the long voyage across the sea commenced. The cruise interior was clean and the seats were comfortable. Stepping outside, the refreshing sea breeze greeted us, and the panoramic view of the East Sea was far more majestic and expansive than any photograph could capture. On the gently swaying ship, I found moments to nap, gaze blankly at the ocean, and experience a sense of relaxation that is impossible to find on land. After about three and a half hours, the dock at Ulleungdo came into view. Towering cliffs and emerald waters welcomed us warmly, making the arrival feel truly special. Despite initial concerns about seasickness, the journey was far more pleasant than expected, and the adventure felt like it had already begun even before reaching Ulleungdo.
