#100WaysOfTravel Just got back from a lovely trip to Vicenza, and it completely exceeded my expectations! 🏛️ This city is a true architectural gem, thanks to the incredible works of Andrea Palladio. My first stop was the Teatro Olimpico, the oldest indoor theater in the world. The entrance fee was €11, and stepping inside was like going back in time. The illusionistic stage design was simply mind-blowing. 🎭 Strolling around Vicenza, I felt like I was in an open-air museum. The Basilica Palladiana, with its striking white arches, is a must-see (entry €5). From its rooftop terrace, you get an amazing view of the city and the surrounding hills. 🌄 I also visited Villa La Rotonda just outside the city, one of Palladio’s masterpieces. Though the entrance to the grounds is €10, the serene setting and the harmony of the architecture are worth it. The town is small enough to explore on foot, and every street is packed with beautiful buildings, cozy cafes, and boutiques. 🛍️ Plus, it’s less touristy than other Italian cities, which made it even more enjoyable. #Overseas Travel There is a very special indoor theater in Vicenza. It was designed by the famous architect Andrea Palladio during the Renaissance in the 16th century. It was his last work before his death, and he died before the theater was completed. The theater is called Teatro Olimpico, and the most amazing thing about it is that the auditorium is designed based on the theme of an ancient Roman amphitheater. The oval-shaped stepped auditorium is surrounded by a sculptured colonnade on the outermost edge, restoring the essence of classical architecture. The theater held its first performance in 1585. The stage set built for the play at that time incorporated visual perspective effects and created seven streets in the center of the stage. Address - Rotonda Highlights - cannot miss! 30min walk from Vicenza city centre, must go check out. It’s originally meant to be an entertainment building for the owners, imagine having your own villa party in here.
