Big Almaty Lake Trekking Review – Awe-inspiring as much as it was breathtaking.

The most memorable spot during my trip to Almaty was undoubtedly 'Big Almaty Lake.' Located at an altitude of 2,500 meters, about an hour and a half drive from the city center, the journey itself was thrilling. On the day of my visit, vehicle access to the lakefront was restricted, so I had to embark on a fairly long trek. Despite the uphill path and the thin air characteristic of high altitudes, I couldn't help but keep moving forward. The moment I first laid eyes on the lake was indescribably moving. A crystal-clear emerald lake that mirrors its surroundings, snow-capped peaks encircling it, and the overwhelming tranquility of nature in the serene air. The trekking difficulty is moderate to challenging, so if you're not confident in your stamina, you might consider driving partway up. However, if possible, I highly recommend walking up slowly. The journey itself felt like an integral part of the experience, and it made the lake seem even more beautiful. Big Almaty Lake turned my heavy steps into moments of awe. It was a radiant day spent amidst the purest scenery gifted by nature.
