Alnwick Castle in Northumberland, UK - One of the Filming Locations for Harry Potter.

On my first visit to Newcastle, UK, a friend who lives there drove me to Alnwick Castle. It only took about fifty minutes by car from Newcastle. Although I'm not a die-hard Harry Potter fan, I do enjoy the movies, especially the scenes where they learn magic at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Some scenes at Alnwick Castle were used for the outdoor broomstick training. Alnwick Castle was built in the 11th century and is the second largest castle in the UK. When I arrived in the morning, I saw a group of people, both adults and children, participating in a 3D broomstick game, reenacting scenes from the movie, which was quite interesting. The Percy family, who own Alnwick Castle, still reside there, so you have the opportunity to tour the interior and learn about their family history, including their roles in wars and their relationship with the royal family. It's a lesson in British noble history. However, photography is not allowed inside, so you have to experience it firsthand. The outdoor area is vast, and you can enjoy rolling on the grass with your family. In spring and summer, there are beautiful flowers for photo opportunities. The castle's restaurant is also quite good. We bought sandwiches and coffee and ate outside. Fortunately, it was sunny and not too windy, so we could enjoy the sunlight. Additionally, the castle shop sells Harry Potter memorabilia, so you might want to set aside some time to check it out. The castle tickets are valid for a year, allowing multiple entries, but remember that it is closed in winter.
