No sunset in Southeast Asia can compare to this (Part 2)

The popular temple in Amarapura is called Mahagandayon Monastery. It is famous not for its Buddha statues, but for the daily life of the thousands of monks in the temple, such as going out in the morning to beg for alms and having lunch together in the hall at noon. During the peak tourist season, buses of tourists come to visit every day, so much so that the monks are overwhelmed and have to change the time of their activities. The bridge that makes Amarapura famous is called U Bein Bridge. It spans Taungthaman Lake and is 1,188 meters long, making it the longest teak pedestrian bridge in the world. It is said that more than 100 years ago, when Amarapura replaced Inwa as the capital, the then mayor transported teak from the old palace in Inwa to build the bridge. In honor of him, the bridge was named after his surname and the honorific title U Bein. U Bein Bridge looks ordinary during the day, but after sunrise, the villagers and monks passing by the bridge form a picture of life. An hour before sunset, the people on the bridge become silhouettes on a red curtain, and the U Bein Bridge against the sunset becomes an unparalleled beautiful picture. From Mandalay to Amarapura, you can take a taxi, pickup truck, or motorcycle. From Amarapura to U Bein Bridge, you can walk or take a horse-drawn carriage. If you don't want to be part of the silhouette on the bridge, it is better to take a boat on the lake to watch the sunset over U Bein Bridge. It is important to note that due to the protracted civil war and rampant fraud against Chinese people in recent years, Myanmar is no longer a safe travel destination. We can only look for the afterglow of the sunset over U Bein Bridge from photos and memories of our travels.
