📍 Aomori Contemporary Art Centre (acac)/Aomori

An art center operated by Aomori Public University, designed by Tadao Ando, ​​with the theme of "invisible architecture" that makes use of the surrounding natural environment and buries the building in the forest so as not to destroy the rugged terrain. It is about 40 minutes by bus from Aomori Station. Admission is free, and instead of a permanent exhibition room, outdoor artworks are scattered throughout the premises. In winter, the roads are closed or buried in snow, so the outdoor artworks are almost invisible, but it is worth it just to enjoy the architectural beauty. The Four Seasons Arcade is especially popular as an art of light and shadow. It is a wooden tunnel in the forest, and when natural light enters it, it is a mysterious spot, but it was also very tasteful to see it in a snowy landscape.
