Direct Encounter with Earth's Pulse｜First Experience at Mount Aso Crater

Standing at the edge of Mount Aso's crater, I felt the Earth's breath up close for the first time. White steam continuously rises from the crater, accompanied by the scent of sulfur, a reminder that this is still an active volcano. Mount Aso is one of the few places in the world where you can observe a volcanic crater up close. It is also Japan's largest active volcanic group, with its central crater hill still active and exuding a powerful presence. Visiting during autumn and winter is particularly striking. The cold air enhances visibility, and the blue-green crater lake appears and disappears through the mist, creating a scene that is both magnificent and mysterious. I highly recommend checking the volcano alert level and wind direction announcements for safety.
