Exploring a UNESCO World Heritage Site

It isn't a surprise that Bali, home to rich culture, tradition, and heritage, has its own UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is none other than the world-famous Tegallalang Rice Terrace. Located in a valley a 20-minute drive north of Ubud, the Tegallalang Rice Terrace is a system of beautifully arranged levels of rice fields. According to local tradition, this way of arranging the rice fields were passed down for generations by a great sage known as Sri Markandeya, for the past 1300 years. I highly recommend you trek through these terraces, and go from the entrance (along the main road lined with restaurants and bars) to the other side with a nice view point. It costs IDR 25.000 for a ticket to trek through it, and the paths are easy to nagivate and climb. It took about 30 minutes to go from one side to the other and back again. Those looking for an adrenaline rush will be happy to know that there are many swings, zipline, and sky bicycle activities available for a fee.
