Kampong Ayer Water Village, Brunei

Before I went to Brunei, I always thought that the "Venice of the East" was Macau or Tai O in Hong Kong. But this water village in Brunei is larger than Tai O. In order to preserve this large and traditional water village, the Brunei government not only builds new water houses with cement for the residents free of charge (they were made of wood in the past), but also prohibits merchants from building bridges and stipulates that everyone must take speedboats to enter and exit the water village. In addition, it has built several small docks, small bridges across the river and wooden plank roads for this one-tenth of the population.
