A high-end hotel from the Republic of China era hidden in the alley

The Oriental Hotel is now located at No. 11 Wanming Road. The hotel was built on the site of the Ming Dynasty temple 'Wanming Temple'. The stone material in the picture below was unearthed during the construction in the courtyard in 2005. It is the foundation stone of Wanming Temple (the stone pad under the pillar), which has a history of 600 years. The Ruyi cloud pattern shows the classic Ming Dynasty carving style. The hotel had spacious bathrooms, electric lights, fans, heating, and hot and cold bathing water in each room. It was the first privately-owned high-end hotel in China, the first hotel where each room was equipped with a landline telephone, and the first Republic of China cultural theme hotel in the East... Lu Xun once took refuge here, Chen Duxiu lived here, and Zhang Xueliang mediated for Zhang Daqian and Xu Yansun here... It is located near the Hufangqiao subway station, with a script murder game and a cafe inside.
