Access to the main building is now open to the public, with many people taking photos at the top of the steps where figures such as Chairman Mao have stood. Walking through the tiananmen building leads to the picturesque and historical Forbidden City. Animals figures were carved into the temple roofs there to show how powerful the person who lived there was, the more animals the more 'powerful'. Fantastic scenery and historically informative.
