Jinhai Lake Scenic Area is located in Jinhai Lake Town, Pinggu District, Beijing, 85 kilometers away from Beijing. It is located in the triangle area where Beijing, Tianjin and Tangshan meet, and is known as "Little Beidaihe". Jinhai Lake was first formed in the 18th year of Emperor Kangxi's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1679), when a major earthquake occurred in Pinggu and Sanhe, forming a river valley. In 1959, it was built into the Jinhai Lake Reservoir. In 1985, Jinhai Lake Reservoir was opened as a tourist area and named Jinhai Lake Park.
