Beijing City Walk 11th stop: Wudaokou Hutong.

Wudaoying Hutong is located on the east side of Andingmen Interchange in Dongcheng District, Beijing. If you take the subway to Lama Temple Station on Line 5, it is only a few minutes' walk away. Wudaoying Hutong was called Wudeweiying in the Ming Dynasty, named after the garrison troops. It was erroneously called that in the Qing Dynasty, and this place name was used until after the Republic of China. When the place names were rectified in 1965, Xiaotoutiao and Xiaoertiao were merged and renamed Wudaoying Hutong. Today, Wudaoying Hutong is a "net-famous" hutong with a commercial atmosphere. But it is not as crowded as "Nanluoguxiang", nor as quiet and leisurely as Yangmeizhuxie Street. It is somewhere in between the two. It is filled with a strong cultural flavor while retaining the elegance of the hutong. It is a distinctive hutong worth visiting. There are many shops on both sides of the alley, selling a variety of products, either food or items. Each store is not big, but it has a wide variety of goods, attracting people to stop and shop.
