I rarely use the word "stunning" to describe cultural sites, but Zhihua Temple is worth it.

Zhihua Temple has reopened, and it's well worth a visit! The revolving sutra cabinet in the Sutra Hall is exquisite, with three-dimensional wood carvings and a breathtaking caisson ceiling. The painted statues in the Tathagata Hall are brightly colored and graceful, and the rear hall of the Zhihua Hall has Ming Dynasty murals. You can also listen to Beijing music that has been passed down for nearly a thousand years, with 20-minute light music sessions in the morning and afternoon. The afternoon session starts at 3 pm, so don't miss it. Don't miss the daily volunteer guide's explanation either. Gather at the gate at 2 pm, and follow them to learn more about the history of the most complete Ming Dynasty temple in Beijing. It's worth the trip.
