I'm craving Wuji's Mendin Meat Pies again—

😋🍴 I haven't had them in a while, and I've been really craving them recently. Although there are many restaurants that make Mendin Meat Pies now, whenever I want them, I always come to Wuji. I can't get used to the taste of other places. 🏮🍲 📍🚇 This restaurant is in the Songyuli residential area, close to the west gate. It's not far from Subway Lines 10 and 14. Driving here is also an option, as the residential area is large and parking is usually available. 🚗🅿 🍽🍲 I discovered this place by chance, and after my first visit, it took the top spot in my Mendin Meat Pie rankings. Now, whenever I have a craving, I have to come here, even if it's not that close to home. 🏃‍♂💨 🏮🚪 The restaurant is easy to find. Although it's not big, it has a distinct ethnic style from the outside, clearly a Muslim restaurant. The interior decoration is equally characteristic. 🧶🎨 🪑🛋 The space inside is quite decent. Even though I missed the peak dining hours and it's almost 3 p.m., people are still coming in to eat. They all look like regulars, probably here for the Mendin Meat Pies. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🎉 ☀🪟 I sat at my usual "window seat" again. The sunlight slanted in through the glass, creating a warm atmosphere. It's so relaxing to sit by the window, bask in the sun, and enjoy delicious food. 🌞😌 🍜🥟 The restaurant serves a variety of classic Muslim snacks, but I always order the Mendin Meat Pies and the Water-Boiled Cabbage. Today, I'm having a couple of drinks, so I'll also get a cold dish. 🥗🍶 🥩🫓 The Mendin Meat Pies here are huge, with generous fillings. After taking a bite, I don't dare inhale too quickly, as the flavorful broth could easily make me choke. It's so satisfying! No wonder I can't get used to other places after eating here. 🤤💦 🥬🍜 Water-Boiled Cabbage is a classic Beijing dish. It's simply cabbage and vermicelli blanched in water and served with sesame sauce. It may look simple, but the cabbage is sweet and the vermicelli is chewy. It's a must-have for Beijingers when eating hot pot. 🥢🍲 🥚🧂 The preserved egg with ginger, which I ordered as a side dish for my drinks, was nothing special, just average. I also had a large bowl of millet porridge after the meat pies, which felt very comforting and helped with the alcohol. 🥣💖 🚴‍♂🍻 I purposely didn't drive today so I could have a drink. I took the subway and then rode a shared bike for over 1,000 meters. After eating and drinking, I strolled back to the subway station, feeling pleasantly tipsy. Perfect! 🚲🛤 😄📝 Next time I crave Mendin Meat Pies, I'll definitely come back here. It's best to wear dark clothes because the meat pies are so juicy, haha. 👕💦
