#discoverchina Beihai Park (北海公园), located in central Beijing’s Xicheng District, is one of China’s oldest and most renowned imperial gardens. Established during the 10th century under the Liao Dynasty, the park spans over 69 hectares, with more than half occupied by the serene Beihai Lake. At the center of the lake lies Qionghua Island, crowned by the iconic White Dagoba—a 40-meter-tall Tibetan-style stupa constructed in 1651. The park also features historical structures like the Nine-Dragon Wall, the Five-Dragon Pavilions, and the Circular City, which houses a jade Buddha statue.
