Diary of a Stroll in the Summer Palace

Recently, I've been visiting the Summer Palace frequently, entering through the Xinjian Palace Gate and leisurely walking along Kunming Lake. The experience is truly delightful! Kunming Lake: Serenity by the Water As soon as you step into the Summer Palace, the first thing that catches your eye is the crystal-clear Kunming Lake, shimmering like a mirror. A gentle breeze ripples the surface, creating sparkling waves under the sunlight, which dances in golden hues. The lake is surrounded by lush greenery, and the scenery is so picturesque that it instantly lifts your spirits. Along the shore, lotus flowers bloom vibrantly, each one flaunting its beauty as if saying, "Come admire me! Aren't I stunning?" A few small boats drift across the lake, resembling carefree water birds, adding a touch of charm to the vast expanse of Kunming Lake. Walking along the lakeside, you encounter many interesting scenes. An elderly couple holding hands strolls under colorful umbrellas, creating a heartwarming image straight out of a movie. Near the Jingmi Water Diversion Canal, a mother and daughter paddle a kayak in perfect harmony, their laughter echoing across the water. Then there are the seasoned swimmers, gracefully gliding through the lake—truly inspiring with their athletic spirit! Strolling Along the West Causeway: Willow Trees Whispering Reaching the West Causeway, the breeze here feels particularly soothing, and the drooping willow branches seem to heal the soul. Both sides of the causeway are lined with verdant trees, and the lake sparkles under the sunlight, offering a different charm in every season. In spring, peach blossoms adorn the causeway, their reflections mingling with the lake's surface; in summer, the dense foliage provides a cool retreat; in autumn, golden ginkgo leaves carpet the path, creating a breathtaking scene; and in winter, the snow-covered landscape transforms into a fairytale wonderland. Feeding Ducks Near Zaojian Hall Continuing the stroll, I arrived near Zaojian Hall, which is practically a paradise for ducks. Unable to resist, I bought some food to feed them. What a spectacle! As soon as I started feeding, it felt like an entire fleet of ducks had gathered around, quacking excitedly. Watching them eat with such enthusiasm brought a smile to my face. Observing Black Swans at Tuancheng Lake The small window at Tuancheng Lake offers the perfect vantage point to observe black swans. These elegant creatures glide gracefully across the water, occasionally preening their feathers, embodying the aristocracy of this aquatic realm. Standing there, watching them, I felt a sense of refined tranquility wash over me. Sunset Bliss Outside Zhichun Pavilion Finally, I reached the rocks outside Zhichun Pavilion and sat down. In the distance, the Buddhist Fragrance Pavilion stood majestically, framed by the vibrant hues of the sunset. The evening glow painted the entire Summer Palace in dreamy colors, like a giant masterpiece. Sitting there, I was reluctant to leave, wanting to remain immersed in the beauty of the moment. The Summer Palace is truly as beautiful as a painting, but the lively people and animals within it make it even more enchanting. A stroll here feels like a cleansing of the soul, leaving you refreshed and carefree, with all worries cast aside. We residents of Haidian are fortunate to have such a wonderful place to visit—it's quite sophisticated, isn't it? I’ll definitely keep coming back to experience this unique charm again and again.
