Summer Palace in Winter

The Summer Palace is the largest imperial garden still in existence in China and was used by the Chinese royal family as a vacation spot during the hot summer months. About 3 square kilometers of pure Chinese beauty, its construction was started in 1750 and ended in 1764. It was since destroyed and rebuilt twice and in 1924 turned into a public park. It is a great place to wander alone or to enjoy with family and friends. You can get a boat and drift on Kunming Lake, walk along the Long Corridor, or watch a traditional Chinese performance in the theatre. You could spend half a day wandering the garden, taking in the peaceful scenery. It is especially pretty as the sun sets over the 17-hole bridge.
