A modern and shocking art experience—MONA Private Museum

#March Good Places 2025 A recent trip to Hobart, Tasmania, where I visited MONA (Museum of Old and New Art) was an unprecedented experience! This private museum completely shattered my impression of a traditional museum, with everything from the architectural design to the exhibit furnishings being creative and even somewhat subversive. After entering, it was like entering a mysterious and surreal world. The venue is designed in style, and many of the exhibits are interactive and will even challenge your thinking about issues such as art, religion, sex and death. While some exhibitions may be controversial, that is what makes me think MONA is so special – it dares to say, dare to do and impress. In addition, the O device (i.e., guide machine) provided in the museum is very convenient for reading exhibit information and listening to introductions, which is very courteous. Drinking a drink outside the pavilion looking at the river view is another kind of enjoyment. Overall, MONA is a very modern, mind-stimulating art space that will be fresh whether you are an art lover or a regular tourist. You can’t miss it when you come to Hobart!
