Chongxu Ancient Taoist Temple, Luofu Mountain.

As the "Seventh Cave of Taoism", Luofu Mountain was once home to many Taoist temples and monasteries. Today, only the Chongxu Ancient Taoist Temple remains intact. The temple is said to have been built by Ge Hong during the Eastern Jin Dynasty, and is considered the ancestral home of the Huanglong Temple in Hangzhou and the Wong Tai Sin Temple in Hong Kong. Unlike the Baiyun Taoist Temple in Beijing and other northern Taoist temples, the Chongxu Ancient Taoist Temple has a distinct Lingnan style, with its roof ridge and murals on both sides of the mountain gate worth a closer look. Unlike monasteries, the mountain gate hall is not dedicated to Maitreya or Weituo, but to Wang Lingguan. The main hall is the Sanqing Hall, which is dedicated to the Three Purities. Other halls include the Ge Xian Hall (dedicated to Ge Hong), the Lvzu Hall (dedicated to Lv Dongbin), the Chisong Huangxian Hall (dedicated to Chisongzi), and the Yuanchen Hall (which houses the 60 Tai Sui of the Chinese zodiac). The temple is not crowded and is very quiet. It is a must-visit when in Luofu Mountain.
