Chadong Town

Located at the junction of Chongqing, Hunan, and Guizhou, this small town has not been over-commercialized and retains a relatively quiet appearance. The shops along the street make people feel as if they have returned to the 1980s and 1990s. Perhaps all ancient towns and villages are trying to change the status quo of being little known and are working hard to develop into popular tourist attractions to drive economic development. There are many large signs along the highway reminding tourists that this is the real and only border town in Shen Congwen's writing. It is always difficult to achieve a perfect balance between development and protection. When the world knows and swarms, it is also the beginning of its loss of true flavor.
