Chaeseokgang was designated as Jeollabuk-do Monument No. 28 on April 2, 1976, and as Scenic Site No. 13 on November 17, 2004. It has an area of ​​127,372㎡. It is located at the westernmost part of Byeonsan Peninsula, Buan-gun, Jeollabuk-do, below Dakibong on the right side of Gyeokpo Port. It was a former naval base, and during the Joseon Dynasty, there was a Gyeokpojin under the Jeolla Right Naval Command. The terrain of Chaeseokgang is a Cretaceous strata of the Mesozoic Era with Precambrian granite and gneiss as the base. The cliffs, which were eroded by seawater and deposited, look like tens of thousands of books stacked up. The scenery is unparalleled when combined with the surrounding white sandy beach and clear water. The name Chaeseokgang is similar to Chaeseokgang, where Li Bai of the Tang Dynasty of China drowned while drinking on a boat and trying to catch the moon floating in the river. In the summer, it is a great place to enjoy swimming, and photography and filming are often done here because of the beautiful scenery.
