The famous JAM GADANG

It's incomplete if you don't take pictures around the Jam Gadang, when you come to this city of Bukittinggi. As a city landmark and icon, Jam Gadang has a long history and extraordinary uniqueness. The ‘Jam Gadang’ was a gift from Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands in the era of the Dutch East Indies Government, in 1926. Many say that the architect of the ‘Jam Gadang’ was a Minang person, he was "Yazid Rajo Mangkuto Sutan Gigi Ameh". The ‘Jam Gadang’ has 4 sides with a diameter of 80 cm, driven mechanically by a machine imported directly from Rotterdam. There are only 2 privileges of this movement in the world, Big Ben in London and the Clock Tower in Bukittinggi, off course! Lately the local government has made some great major renovations to the surrounding place.
