"Kumano Rock-Carved Buddhas" If you go over the stone steps built by demons from the entrance to the mountain path in the Tasome district of Bungotakada City, you will find one of Japan's largest rock-carved Buddhas waiting for you! On the left is the "Acala Statue (approx. 8m)" and on the right is the "Dainichi Nyorai Statue (approx. 7m)". Both are rock-carved Buddhas with a long history, and it is clear that they existed in the early Kamakura period! And there is a legend that the steep stone steps leading up to this place were built by demons in one night, with 99 steps! Why not come and receive the power of this Buddha with a gentle expression! *The stone steps are rough, so we recommend that you wear comfortable shoes.
