Charmed by Carvoeiro: Portugal’s Little Town with Big Adventures

If I had to choose just one favorite town in Algarve, it would be Carvoeiro, a small coastal gem that stole my heart with its charm, colorful streets, and dramatic sea views. It's quiet without being dull, lively without the crowds, and full of natural beauty that’s perfect for both relaxing and exploring, even with kids! We visited in October, during what they call the shoulder season, and it was just right. The summer crowds were gone, the midday sun still hugged the coast at 25°C, and while the ocean was a bit chilly, the beaches were calm and peaceful. Here are my must-do’s in Carvoeiro: Benagil Cave by Kayak This famous sea cave is even more magical in person. We joined a guided kayak tour — safe and fun, even for beginners — and paddled through turquoise water into a cave lit by the sun pouring through its natural skylight. Unforgettable! Hike the Seven Hanging Valleys Trail This coastal hike is stunning — think towering cliffs, hidden beaches, and panoramic views at every turn. It’s family-friendly too; some sections end right on the beach, perfect for little feet that need a splash break. Wander the Town The town itself is full of whitewashed houses, cobbled streets, and cozy cafés. It’s postcard-pretty without trying too hard, and still has that touch of traditional fishing village soul. Tips: - Come in shoulder months like May or October for great weather without the tourist crowds - Wear sneakers for the hikes — even short trails have rocky paths - Don’t rush, Carvoeiro is a place meant to be savored slowly. Whether you're in it for the views, the sea, the food, or the calm, Carvoeiro delivers all of it in sun-drenched, sea-scented package. It's small, but it lingers in your memory long after you leave. #aprilblooms #traveltips #travelblog #travel #portugal #algarve

#2023travelwish #tripblazers #portugal This year's trip to Algarve Portugal was beautiful. Portugal's southern coastal region really surpised me how different it was to the capital. Having only one airport in the region we found it easy to travel from the Faro airport city to our final destination in Lagos- a 2hour train journey but it was well worth it! We went there for the relaxed vibe. We visited the famous Benegil cave and Carvoeiro town with lovely colourful hours. We did a crazy thing and walked 4 hours from one town to another taking the route along the cliff edges in flip flops! Highly recommend visiting there it was one of our highlights as well as Portimao's beautiful beach. Next year 2023 I hope to visit Kyoto, Japan again as it has been a while since I went to Asia as of Covid!
