The oldest church in the Philippines, built in 1565 by Spanish colonists Legazpi and Urdaneta. It has a long history, having been burned down on November 1, 1568, rebuilt in 1602, destroyed again in 1628, and rebuilt and restored in 1740. The church's patron saint, the Santo Niño (a statue of the infant Jesus Christ), was a gift from Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan to Queen Juana.
