A Spring Outing in Hongmei Park

If you have the chance to visit Changzhou in spring, a stroll through Hongmei Park is a must. Located adjacent to the renowned Tianning Temple, it's a quintessential stop on any Changzhou itinerary. On a crisp spring morning, I entered Hongmei Park, drawn by the subtle fragrance of plum blossoms to the famed plum grove. As a celebrated plum blossom viewing spot in the Jiangnan region, the park boasts a wide variety of plum blossoms: fiery red, snowy white, rosy pink, and even the rare yellow plum, scattered like stars across the branches. Passing through the fragrant paths, the majestic Wenbi Pagoda comes into view. Standing tall at 48.38 meters, the ancient pagoda's wind chimes gently sway in the breeze, whispering tales of a thousand years of cultural heritage. Strolling along the park's paths, though the fragrance of wintersweet has faded, the sight of red, white, and green plum blossoms is refreshing. The plum blossoms of Hongmei Park, with their noble elegance, embody the resilience and poetry of life. The proximity of the famed Tianning Temple to Hongmei Park allows the temple's towering 153.79-meter Tianning Pagoda to become part of the park's scenery. The view of the pagoda framed by plum blossoms is unique to Changzhou. Both Hongmei Park and Tianning Temple (a 4A-rated tourist attraction) are free to enter and conveniently located in the city center.
