Du Fu's Home - Huanhuaxi Park

Huanhuaxi is a beautiful name. I was deeply impressed when I visited Du Fu Thatched Cottage. This time, I came to Chengdu. I can skip Du Fu Thatched Cottage, but I must visit Huanhuaxi Park. Cross Huanhua South Road and enter Caotang Road. The road is lined with ancient trees, providing shade from the sun. Continue west, and you will see the beautiful stream that surrounds Du Fu Thatched Cottage and Huanhuaxi Park. The core of Huanhuaxi Park is a pond called Canglang Lake, which is fed by Huanhuaxi. Caotang Road runs between Huanhuaxi Park and Du Fu Thatched Cottage. Huanhuaxi Park is an open garden, while Du Fu Thatched Cottage is surrounded by red walls. Walk clockwise around Canglang Lake. Huanhuaxi is to the south, and a greenway runs along the stream. The trees are dense, and you can only see Canglang Lake through the gaps in the trees. There are also stone tablets with poems by Du Fu along the greenway, which are scattered throughout Huanhuaxi Park. If you have time to read them, it is a good cultural experience. Walk along the greenway to the intersection. Continue forward to reach the main stone tablet pavilion, or turn left to reach the south gate of the park. Turn right and cross Huanhuaxi via the small bridge. There is a sculpture on the other side that is particularly eye-catching. This is a group sculpture. The white statues in front are Li Bai and Du Fu, and the black statue behind is Qu Yuan. Qu Yuan wrote: "The water of the Canglang is clear, so I can wash my tassels." Du Fu was a fan of Qu Yuan. He drifted around all his life and finally died on a boat on the Miluo River. There seems to be some kind of fate in this. Naming the pond in the center of Huanhuaxi Park Canglang Lake is obviously meaningful. This is the connection between Canglang Lake and Huanhuaxi. There is a platform by the lake, where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Canglang Lake. Head north to Caotang Road. Walk west to Caotang Square, which is the south gate of Du Fu Thatched Cottage. I plan to walk around Du Fu Thatched Cottage. Take a photo in front of the gate, and continue west. You will see Huanhuaxi again. Cross the small bridge over Huanhuaxi to reach Caotang Lane. Caotang Road turns along the riverbank. The greenway is built along the wall, which changes from red to white. There is a screen wall by the road ahead, which blocks the west gate of Du Fu Thatched Cottage, which is also the main gate. If you enter from here, you can go directly to the famous thatched cottage broken by the autumn wind.
