The pain and history of division, the beautiful nature of Cheorwon, and our dog together🤎

#WinterTravel 1️⃣Cheorwon History and Culture Park This is a retro-style history and culture park that recreates the old Cheorwon. The park is so well-maintained that it's great for taking a walk with your dog, and since each building is a photo zone, you can take lots of pretty pictures with your dog. 2️⃣Soisan Perimeter Trail (Mine Flower Trail) This is a perimeter trail that connects Cheorwon History and Culture Park No. 1 and Soisan Observatory No. 3, and it's a great course for taking a walk with your dog. It was originally located within the Military Demarcation Line and was off-limits to civilians, but it was opened in 2012 and turned into an ecological forest green trail. As the subtitle of the perimeter trail suggests, there are still landmines installed during the Korean War beyond the barbed wire fence that you come across as you walk along the perimeter trail. 3️⃣Soisan Observatory You'll come across Soisan Observatory as you walk up the Soisan Perimeter Trail. You can also see the DMZ-related exhibition on the way up to the observatory, and the Cheorwon Plain that you can see when you climb up to the observatory is really vast and beautiful. 4️⃣Labor Party Office Until June 25, this building was used as the North Korean Labor Party. It was heavily damaged during the Korean War, and the entire building was blackened and there were many marks from shells and bullets, making it a modern cultural heritage that reminds us of the Korean War and the division of Korea. It is also close to Cheorwon Historical and Cultural Park No. 2, so I visited there with May. 5️⃣Sambuyeon Waterfall While driving around Cheorwon with May, you suddenly see Sambuyeon Waterfall popping out from the side of the road, making you wonder if there is a waterfall here. It is a beautiful sight even in the summer when the waterfall falls, but it is a really amazing spot when the waterfall is frozen solid in the winter. The biggest advantage of Sambuyeon Falls is that it is a large waterfall that you can go to without having to climb a mountain, and it is located right in front of the roadside parking lot!
