Huayelou

This is the first time I see a Tulou, and all I can think of is the lingering Big Fish and Begonia. Free parking, ticket price is 10 yuan per person. Putting aside Big Fish and Begonia, the building itself is also worth appreciating. Stepping into Hua'e Tower is like traveling through time and entering the profound picture of Hakka history. This circular earthen building located in Lianfeng Village, Dadong Town, Dapu County, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, was first built during the Wanli Period of the Ming Dynasty. After more than 400 years of wind and rain, it still stands firmly. The building is three stories high, with a civil structure and exterior walls built with rammed earth. The yellowish-brown tone is like the skin of the earth, simple and heavy. There are three rings in the building, clustered layer by layer in an orderly manner. The 210 rooms are distributed along a circle and closely connected, as if telling a warm story of family gathering. In the center of the building is a spacious circular patio, paved with pebbles and decorated with patterns of ancient coins, symbolizing wealth and good fortune. During every festival, villagers gather here to dance dragons and lions, hold banquets and sing, making the place very lively. The surrounding wells, stone mills and other relics of life silently bear witness to the past. Hua'e Tower is not only an architectural masterpiece, but also a living carrier of Hakka culture, carrying the tenacity, unity and wisdom of the Hakka people.
