Daiwang Mansion is a historical site and a group of reconstructed ancient buildings located in Pingcheng District and Yang Street, Datong City, Shanxi Province, China. This group of buildings was built in the 29th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1396) by Zhu Gui, the 13th son of Zhu Yuanzhang, the first emperor of the Ming Dynasty, on the basis of the Imperial College of the Western Capital of the Liao and Jin Dynasties. 1. Historical background: The history of Daiwang Mansion can be traced back to the early Ming Dynasty. It was built by Zhu Gui, the 13th son of Zhu Yuanzhang, the first emperor of the Ming Dynasty. It was once an important place for handling government affairs and daily life. After hundreds of years of vicissitudes, the original Daiwang Mansion was destroyed by a fire in the 17th year of Chongzhen (1644), and only the Nine Dragon Wall survived. 2. Reconstruction project: Since 2011, Datong City has launched the famous city revival project, which includes the comprehensive restoration and reconstruction of Daiwang Mansion, aiming to reproduce the historical appearance of Daiwang Mansion in the Ming Dynasty. By 2015, the reconstruction of the central axis building group of Daiwang Mansion had been basically completed, and it was planned to reopen to the public on July 31, 2023. 3.
