It is the latest of the thirteen temples built in Kangzang. The Gedong Festival is the most important festival of this temple. It is held on the 28th and 29th of the eighth month of the Tibetan calendar every year and is also known as the "God Dance Festival". Gedong means "the changing ceremony of law enforcement monks". The lamas wear masks with animal heads such as cows, horses, and deer, and move around to the music while dancing the "Qiangmu dance". People from the surrounding villages often gather here from the early morning.
