Ancient temples and rice paddies in the rain ☔️ 🇻🇳 🛕

Hoi An is also a perfect place to base yourself to explore so much more than the beautiful, but touristic ancient town. It can also be tricky to know what to do in rainy season! The ancient temples of My Son are only a 45 minute taxi ride away, and are definitely worth a visit. Top tip: we negotiated with our driver to wait for us and return - this was much cheaper than any tour! The temples are easy to explore independently; there is a constant flow of small electric shuttle buses from the entrance to the first temple, but it’s only a 20 minute walk, if like us, you’d rather the exercise! We found them quite atmospheric in the drizzling rain! Another perfect way to spend a day outside of the ancient town is to put on a poncho, hire bikes (check if your hotel has them for free - many do!) and cycle around the nearby rice paddies and fields. 🚲 🌾These are just a 10 min cycle outside the old town, and you can experience completely different scenery!
