Paying tribute to the starting point of history: Reflections in front of the Great Ocean Road house number

#AprilGoodDestinations2025 Standing in front of the Great Ocean Road Memorial Arch, I not only came to the starting point of a magnificent coastal road, but also felt like I was stepping into the continuation of history. This simple yet meaningful wooden arch actually commemorates the veterans who participated in the First World War and returned home to build the Great Ocean Road. This road is not just a journey to beautiful scenery, but also a tribute to peace and sacrifice. There are many interpretive signs around the arch, telling the history of this road from being built by hand to becoming a world-class attraction. When I stand at this starting point and look forward, I am not only looking forward to the magnificent sea view along the way, but also have more respect for the meaning of this road. It is not as visually stunning as the Twelve Apostles, but it is deeply touching. Traveling is not just about accumulating scenery, but also a process of understanding local stories. The Great Ocean Road address is the key starting point that reminds me that “this is not just a road”.
