Climb to the top of Europe on the Swiss Jungfrau | Sit on the train and breathe oxygen to see the snow-capped mountains!

The Jungfrau is located in the Swiss Alps, southeast of the Bernese Oberland, between the cantons of Bern and Valais, 18 kilometers southeast of the town of Interlaken. It is adjacent to the Eiger and Mönch. It has an altitude of 4,158 meters and is the third highest peak in the Bernese Alps. 🌟Trailer going up the mountain: a slow "train in the clouds" ✅Gear train, climbing up the hill depends entirely on "chewing the rails"! The Jungfraujoch train is a cog railway, specially designed to handle such steep slopes (maximum slope 25%!), and the speed is as slow as a snail (fastest 24 km/h), but it allows the body to slowly adapt to the increase in altitude. The carriage was well heated, and the scenery outside the large windows gradually changed from green grasslands to snow-capped mountains and glaciers. ✅"Transparent skylight" in the tunnel After the train enters the tunnel, it will stop twice (at the Eiger North Wall Station and the Ice Sea Station), each stop lasting 5 minutes. You must get out of the car at this time! A huge glass window was chiseled on the rock wall of the tunnel. Outside was the glacier and cliffs of the Eiger Mountain. The sunlight shining in was like a "God's window" opened in the ice cave. It was stunning! ! ! 🌟Mountain top hiking: Finish it even if you have to gasp for breath! ✅Explore the Ice Palace, it’s so cold that your soul will leave your body Don’t rush out when you arrive at the station! There is an "Ice Palace" (-3℃!) at the mountaintop station. The ice sculptures of penguins and polar bears are lifelike, and you can even feel the texture of the glacier on the ice wall. However, your fingers will freeze if you stay there for too long, so it is recommended that you leave quickly after taking photos (remember to wear gloves!). ✅Hike to the top, take two steps and rest three steps From the station to the highest observation deck "Sphinx", you still have to take a high-speed elevator (25 seconds to get there!), but the real hike starts from here. The iron mesh plank road leading to the open-air observation deck has a cliff at the foot and the wind is so strong that it can blow people away! We moved at a snail's pace the whole way and were out of breath after walking a few steps, but when we saw the 360-degree panoramic view of the snow-capped mountains in front of us (Jungfrau, Mönch and Eiger were lined up in a row), we instantly felt that it was worth it. ✅Swiss flag check-in, full of ritual sense The red Swiss flag on the top of the mountain is particularly conspicuous in the snow. Although my hands are shaking from the cold, I have to take a photo and check in! ! ! Next to it is the highest post office in Europe. You can send a postcard to a friend and get it stamped with "Top of Europe" for a memorable experience. 🌟A little happiness after descending the mountain ✅Lauterbrunnen Waterfall heals everything** On the way back, it is recommended to get off at the town of Lauterbrunnen, which is known as the "Waterfall Town". 72 waterfalls cascade down the cliff. Find a cafe to drink a cup of hot chocolate, stare at the snow-capped mountains and waterfalls, and the fatigue of altitude sickness will be cured instantly. ✅Grindelwald's "Dream Hill" If you live in Grindelwald, you must get up early! The hillside in the morning mist looks like a scene from a fairy tale. Small wooden houses are scattered on the green carpet-like grass, and snow-capped mountains are looming in the distance. Any photo taken with a mobile phone can become a wallpaper. ✨trips: 1⃣Don’t be bothered, rent a down jacket! The top of the Jungfrau is covered with snow all year round, and the temperature is always below zero. It may be sunny at the foot of the mountain, but it will be winter instantly when you reach the top! There are places to rent down jackets at the foot of the mountain and the station halfway up the mountain (about 20-30 Swiss francs), and you can also prepare an oxygen cylinder in advance (although we didn’t use it, but at an altitude of 3,454 meters, you will be out of breath if you walk fast). 2⃣Don’t be confused when buying tickets, the pass is more cost-effective! If you plan to travel more in Switzerland, the Swiss Travel Pass can save you a lot of money, as it offers discounts on trains, cable cars and museums. If you buy a Jungfrau train ticket alone, the round trip from Interlaken to the top of the mountain is about 200 Swiss francs, which is expensive but definitely worth it. 3⃣How to deal with altitude sickness: Don’t be too stubborn! Slow down and take a deep breath! We were reminded all the way “don’t run, don’t jump”, but we couldn’t help but take a few quick steps when walking up the stairs, which resulted in dizziness. It is recommended to bring a bottle of water, drink it in small sips, and take deep breaths to adjust your rhythm. There is a medical station on the top of the mountain where you can seek help if you feel really unwell. 4⃣Keep oxygen cylinders as a backup, but don’t rely on them The rented oxygen cylinders were not used in the end, but I put them in my bag for peace of mind. In fact, most people can adapt within half an hour, so don’t scare yourself!
