Seeking Coolness on a Summer Road Trip to Northwestern Yunnan | Friendship between Shanghai and Fugong County

Fugong County is paired with Shanghai. One of my friends just returned from teaching at Fugong No. 1 Middle School this year and has always wanted to visit Fugong. This time, we finally made it, and it was absolutely worth it. 👍 ⛳ Self-driving route: Lushui City > Laomudeng Village, Fugong County 🚘 Mileage: 143KM on National Highway 219 ♒ Altitude: 1800M 💧 Temperature: 21-30 degrees 👚 Dress code: Short sleeves 📍 Must-visit spots 1️⃣ Dengeng Bathhouse: Dengeng Bathhouse is located by the Nujiang River in Lushui. Within a 200-meter stretch of the riverbank, there are 18 hot springs of various sizes. The Lisu people hold a 'Bathhouse Festival' at Dengeng during their Kuoshi Festival (equivalent to the Han Chinese New Year), believing that bathing in the hot springs during these days will keep them healthy for the year. Unfortunately, we visited during the rainy season, and the high water level of the Nujiang River made it hard to find. 😹 2️⃣ Tiger Leaping Gorge: You can walk along the riverside boardwalk to the platform. The roaring Nujiang River is thunderous and turbulent, rushing down with great force, which is quite spectacular. 🌪 3️⃣ Zhiziluo (to be written in the next part) 4️⃣ Laomudeng Nu Village (to be written in the next part) ‼️ Recommended items: There is a small shop on the main street of Zhiziluo. When we passed by, we saw them peeling fresh walnuts from the mountains. We roasted them at home, and they were so fragrant that we regretted not buying more. 💯 🛏 Accommodation recommendation Laomudeng Shangri-La Homestay, located at the highest point in the village. From the balcony, you can see Crown Mountain. There is a large platform on the third floor where you can enjoy the cool evening breeze. In the distance, the Nujiang River flows through the valleys of Biluo Snow Mountain and Gaoligong Mountain. The changing clouds, the sunset over Crown Mountain, the twinkling lights of the small mountain village, and a few old friends make for a beautiful moment. 😊 Paired with the phrase on the platform, 'Love this world with you,' it's perfect. 🌈
