Sakura - A Symbol of Birth and Farewell

The flowers that become more enchanting the more you look at them, with their vibrant colors, are a sign of Japan's transition into warmer weather. That is the cherry blossom. But did you know that their meaning might not be as beautiful as we perceive? The blooming of the cherry blossoms makes us feel that spring is coming, symbolizing good things about to begin. However, the full bloom period lasts only about 7 days before the petals fall. This could be compared to human life, suggesting the impermanence and fragility of our existence. Sakura and Beliefs - In ancient times, from the Sengoku period to the early Edo period, Japanese people would plant cherry trees on graves because the flowers represented sorrow and the transient nature of life, reminding us not to be negligent. Best Time to View Sakura - Normally, the sequence starts from regions where the weather gets warm first, such as Tokyo, then moves to Osaka and Hokkaido. This photo was taken in Tokyo in late April.
