Enoshima Winter Illuminations.

#japantrip What's everyone up to on these weird days between Christmas🎄and New Years? 🎉 Yesterday evening we visited the Enoshima Winter Illuminations. We loved the lights and walked up the hill to the illumination, first passing some food stands selling different treats including squid 🦑 on a stick! We decided to walk up the stairs to the shrines and illuminations, but you also have the option to take a few escalators for a fee. At the top we enjoyed the lights and decided to pay 500 yen, per adult, and 250 yen, per child, to see the beautiful lights inside the historic Samuel Cocking Gardens. It was gorgeous! We didn't pay a little extra to go up inside the tall Enoshima Candle tower. If you go, here's what to expect 👀 ... Enoshima is connected to the mainland by a bridge and is divided roughly into a town and a forested hill. The town area has numerous restaurants, onsen town, and gift shops. The forest area contains several shrines, a small botanical garden, caves, and an observation tower. On a clear day, especially in November-February, the west side of the island offers some breathtaking views of Mount Fuji across the ocean. I recommend going before sunset on a clear day! 🚗 There are 3 parking lots available on the island... 📍 Enoshima Nagisa Parking Area (we used this one, it was about 400 yen per hour) 📍 Enoshima Kamome Parking Lot 📍 Shonan Port Rinko Road Attached Parking Lot ** All three parking lots accept only yen for payments ** 💴 🚆 It's a 25-minute walk from Shonan- Enoshima Station on the Shonan Monorail. It's a 25-minute walk from Enoshima Station on the Enoden Line. ...Inside the Samuel Cocking Gardens you'll find food trucks, restaurants and a free large white bouncing pad for kids ages 3-6!
