The restored ruins of Fukuoka Castle under the cherry blossoms

#FukuokaSakura Take the subway from JR Hakata Station to Akasaka Station Exit 2 and walk for 10 minutes. Fukuoka Castle is an ancient castle in Fukuoka Prefecture, built in the Sengoku period. The lord of the castle was Kuroda Kanbei, who was granted the title of governor because he joined Tokugawa Ieyasu's Eastern Army in the Battle of Sekigahara. Later, the castle was demolished during the Meiji Restoration, and most of the buildings were dismantled. The remaining ruins of the gate and turret are the existing structures. Tamon Turret and Minami Turret of Ninomaru are designated as Important Cultural Properties of Japan. Now only the ruins are left and you can’t go inside to visit, so you can only enjoy the cherry blossoms nearby. If you want to visit the complete castle in Fukuoka, you can go to Kokura Castle. The seal is at the entrance of Korokan, so you can visit and get your seal stamped. Or you can wait until the city walls are lit up to watch the night cherry blossoms, which is also the highlight of a spring outing.
