[Fukushima Prefecture] The sapphire blue eyes of a witch that will wake you up! Goshiki-numa on Mount Issaikyo

Mount Issaikyo rises in Urabandai between Fukushima City and Inawashiro Town in Fukushima Prefecture. It is an active volcano with an elevation of 1,949m, and as its name suggests, it is said to have originated in Buddhism. Looking down from the summit of Mount Issaikyo is the dazzling lapis lazuli pond, commonly known as the Witch's Eye. Please note that this is different from the Goshikinuma pond in Inawashiro, Urabandai. The Witch's Eye surrounded by autumn leaves was a breathtaking sight! In front of Issaikyozan stands Azuma-Kofuji, about 1,700m above sea level. This is a dormant volcano and you can walk around the crater. It takes about 2 hours from the trailhead, Jododaira Visitor Center, to the summit. It's a perfect beginner's course for a day trip, so I recommend it. Photo on Oct 12th 2023 This is called 'Goshiki-numa pond ', which is a volcanic lake and also well-known as 'the Witch's Eyes', looking off from the peak of Mt. Issai-Kyozan that situated in near Lake Inawashiro, Fukushima prefecture, the TOHOKU region of Japan with 1,949m above sea level. A stunningly-azure lake with the peak of fall foliage perfectly made me feel touched when I visited in the clear sky without cloud and wind. Made me so happy.
