Fumin County Tour: Explore the beauty of nature and culture
In the central Yunnan Province, there is a hidden gem called Fumin County. It is only 23 kilometers away from Kunming, but it is like a paradise isolated from the world, exuding a unique charm. As soon as the holiday arrives, I pack my bags and head to this land that I have been looking forward to, and start my unforgettable Fumin tour.
Encounter the countryside and experience farming
On the first day of my arrival in Fumin, I went straight to the Half-mountain Farming and Learning Base. It is located in Yongfu Village, Chijiao Town, and is a comprehensive agricultural complex that integrates "three travels". As soon as I entered, a peaceful and beautiful rural painting unfolded before my eyes. In the distance, the mountains rise and fall, like the guardians of the earth; nearby, the crops are lush and swaying in the breeze, as if whispering a bountiful harvest.
Here, I experienced the joy of catching fish with my bare hands. When I first entered the cool paddy field, I was cautious and afraid of startling the fish, but I didn't catch anything for a long time. Under the guidance of the local villagers, I mastered the technique, aimed at the fish and quickly caught a lively big fish. The joy and sense of accomplishment surged into my heart. I also participated in the plant printing activity, collecting unique leaves and petals in the field, and then gently tapping them with a small hammer in the workshop. The shape and veins of the plants were clearly printed on the paper, as if the whole spring had been preserved.
At night, I checked into the boutique homestay at the base, lay in bed, and listened to the chirping of insects outside the window. In the tranquility that is hard to find in the city, I gradually fell into a sweet dream.
Taste history and experience art
The next day, I came to the Xu Xiake Themed Library, which is located in Tianma Zhushan Junyuan, Shanghe Yuan Cultural and Creative Tourism Town. As soon as I entered, a strong cultural atmosphere came to my face. The library mainly focuses on the understanding and inheritance of Xu Xiake's culture, and cleverly integrates traditional tea art with Xu Xiake's related publications. I found a corner to sit down, brewed a cup of fragrant tea, and opened Xu Xiake's Travels. As if following his footsteps, I admired the beauty of the mountains and rivers of the motherland.
Leaving the library, I went to the Liao Xinxue Art Museum and Du Tianrong Photography Museum in the county museum. The museum houses 94 works by Liao Xinxue, the founder of Yunnan modern art, and 105 works by Du Tianrong, a pioneer of Yunnan photography, as well as 454 masterpieces by many local artists. Walking through the exhibition hall, I was impressed by Liao Xinxue's sculptures and paintings full of vitality, and he gave life to clay and pigments; Du Tianrong's photography works were like a window, allowing me to see the past and present of Fumin, and feel the changes of time and the warmth of life.
In the museum, an old man enthusiastically told me the story of the Red Army that he heard from his elders when he was a child, and his eyes were full of admiration and nostalgia for the ancestors. Listening to his story, I had a deeper understanding of the history of the Red Army's Long March, and I cherished the happy life I have now.
Enjoy food and satisfy your taste buds
During my time in Fumin, I not only enjoyed the scenery and culture, but also tasted the local food. Fumin's "sha zhu fan" (kill pig feast) impressed me deeply. During the Chinese New Year, villagers cook various dishes with fresh pork. The tender stir-fried meat is fragrant, the pork stewed with vermicelli is thick and smooth, and the pork blood pudding is tender and smooth. With the unique dipping sauce, it is full of the taste of home.
"Kuangzhuang liangjuanfen" (Liangjuanfen from Kuangzhuang) is also a must-try. The crystal-clear rice noodles are soft and chewy, with vinegar, chili oil, peanut crumbs, and bean sprouts. After stirring evenly, the taste is sour and spicy. In hot weather, have a serving, and the heat will disappear instantly. Fumin's fruits are also famous. There are cherries in spring, bayberries in summer, apples in autumn, and peaches in winter. When I went, bayberries were ripe. The bayberry trees all over the mountain were full of fruits, like little lanterns. Pick one and put it in your mouth, the sweet and sour juice instantly burst in your mouth, and the taste is still unforgettable.
This Fumin tour is like a sumptuous feast, and I have gained a lot. The natural scenery here intoxicated me, the history and culture intoxicated me, and the food made me linger. I left Fumin with full memories and nostalgia, but I knew that I would definitely come back to explore its more beauty.
