Unlike other flowers that bloom in spring and summer, plum blossoms only bloom in the cold winter. They are as white as snow and as red as rosy clouds. The plum blossom blooms alone in the cold, symbolizing the indomitable national spirit. Some people say that the plum blossom, as the first of the 'top ten famous flowers', is more suitable to be our national flower than the peony (as for what the national flower is, there is actually no official regulation yet).
