As a Marriott member On this business trip to Fuzhou I discovered this hidden gem hotel near the airport - 📍.｜Fuzhou Donghu Marriott Hotel ✈️.｜25 mins from the airport - 1️⃣Location: A blessing for airport transit travelers Although it's a bit far from downtown Fuzhou (about 1 hour by car), this hotel is absolutely a lifesaver for those catching early flights or transferring! Only 25 minutes from Changle Airport, it's so nice not having to trek downtown when landing late at night—just crash right away! However, the surrounding area is still under development, so apart from the hotel's own facilities, you'll probably need to take a taxi to the city center for shopping and dining - 2️⃣Design Aesthetics: A sophisticated expression of Maritime Silk Road culture I was stunned the moment I entered the lobby! The 16-panel giant lacquer screen painting "Maritime Silk Road Sailing" unfolds before you, with sail lines that seem to float on the sea under the lights, instantly transporting you back to the prosperity of the ancient Silk Road. The designers have incorporated Fujian's tea culture and lacquer craftsmanship into every corner—even the elevator decorative paintings feature Fujian tulou buildings and landscapes. Detail lovers will be thrilled - 3️⃣Room Experience: Outstanding hardware, unbeatable views I stayed in a Deluxe King Room with floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides that captured both East Sea and East Lake views! Watching the FFC Building light show at sunset from the window was amazing. The room amenities are also quite "luxurious": smart toilet, coffee machine, and Marriott's exclusive THANN toiletries - 4️⃣Fun and Relaxation: You can enjoy the hotel all day ❶A must-visit for pool enthusiasts The two-story indoor heated pool with floor-to-ceiling windows lets in water views and sunlight, making every swim feel like a photoshoot ❷For wedding parties The "Heart of the Ocean" hall in the garden looks like a diamond, breathtakingly romantic when lit up at night. I heard many couples come specifically to hold their ceremonies here ❸Golf and water activities There's an 18-hole golf course nearby, plus sailing and speedboat options. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to try these—definitely next time - ⭕️Minor Disappointments & Tips ①The remote location is a drawback—ideal for pure relaxation or transit, but leave plenty of time for taxis if you want to visit Three Lanes and Seven Alleys ②Easy to get upgraded to suites during off-season; Titanium members should use points for great value ③The surrounding area is still under construction and quiet at night; if you prefer lively environments, explore downtown during the day and return to the hotel to relax at night - In conclusion This Marriott is definitely "the least Marriott-like Marriott" I've stayed in It tells stories through design and wins hearts through cuisine Its hardware and service even outshine many JW Marriotts If you're catching a flight from Fuzhou or looking for a place to completely unwind You can't go wrong with this choice -
