Zhangye National Geopark

Zhangye National Geopark, also known as Gansu Zhangye National Geopark, is located in Zhangye City, Gansu Province, China, with a planned area of 322 square kilometers (124 square miles). In April 2012, the "Gansu Zhangye Danxia Geopark" was granted the qualification for National Geopark construction by the Ministry of Land and Resources. In June 2016, after on-site inspection, the Ministry of Land and Resources officially named the site "Gansu Zhangye National Geopark." Renowned for its colorful rock formations, this area has been recognized by multiple Chinese media outlets as one of China's most beautiful landscapes. In January 2008, it was approved by the Gansu Provincial Government as the provincial-level "Sunan-Linze Danxia Landform Scenic Area."
