Haining Nanguanxiang Historical and Cultural Block, Zhejiang

Nanguanxiang starts from Dayao Bridge in the north and ends at Tang Bridge and Huiyuan Temple in the south. It is adjacent to Luotang River in the east and Renmin Road in the west. It is more than 350 meters long from north to south and more than 50 meters wide from east to west, with a total area of about 1.7 hectares. Nanguanxiang is one of the few remaining historical blocks that have preserved the street style of the Ming and Qing Dynasties in Jiangnan. Walking through the block, you can still vaguely trace the old appearance of Jiangnan folk houses. The front shop and back workshop, living by the river, and the combination of business and residence show the typical Jiangnan architectural style. The simple shops along the street and the exquisite residential areas inside reflect the social psychological and cultural form of "wealth is not exposed". Walking on the bluestone-paved streets, you can recall the memories of childhood. It is the continuation of the historical context of a city. In addition to the famous former residence of the Wu brothers, there are also historical relics and cultural buildings such as Guandi Temple, Caiyi Academy, Zeyu Pavilion, Jinxiu Workshop, Yanggao Garden, Nanguanxiang Gate Tower, Zhou Zongyi Memorial Hall, and Dayao Bridge. In 2006, Nanguanxiang Block was listed as a historical and cultural block in Zhejiang Province.
