On the evening of December 23, 2024, the Lotus Beach in Xixi Wetland was full of "bird luck" 👏 Jinqiu, a member of the Xixi Feiyu Volunteer Team, originally went to see the long-billed plover, but was surprised to see the oriental stork! The guy resting in the reeds, with a black beak and tail, a white body, and red legs, is a top bird 👑 You know, the oriental stork is a national first-class protected wild animal, and the title of "National Treasure of Birds" is well-deserved. Compared with other herons, it is a "giant" among wading birds, with a body length of 110–115 cm and a wingspan of about 2 meters. When it stands there, it exudes a powerful aura. It is a winter migratory bird in the Yangtze River Basin, and its wild population is pitifully small. It's a rare sight to see one in Hangzhou. The oriental stork visited Xixi in November 2019, and this is the second time it has been spotted in Xixi Wetland. The suitable habitat of Lotus Beach has attracted this distinguished guest to "stay" in Xixi again. Recently, the "bird festival" of Lotus Beach is held every day 📺 The duck carnival is a must-see! Spot-billed ducks, mallards, teal ducks... various duck species gather in groups to play. White-rumped sandpipers and green-legged sandpipers also flock to Lotus Beach, and the long-billed plover is visiting for the first time.
