One of the most talked-about exhibitions in Hangzhou recently is the "Three Silks" at the Museum of Arts and Crafts, "Dragon Casting" at the West Lake Art Museum, and the "Jade for Descendants" exhibition at the Liangzhu Museum. The exhibition is divided into five sections: "Symbols," "Eternity," "Blessings," "Happiness," and "Longevity," showcasing jade seals, funerary jade, ceremonial jade, and decorative jade, providing a comprehensive interpretation of the jade culture of the Han dynasty. Since Zhang Qian's mission to the Western Regions in the Western Han dynasty and Ban Chao's management of the Western Regions in the Eastern Han dynasty, the political, economic, and cultural exchanges between the Central Plains and the Western Regions have been maintained. High-quality jade from Xinjiang gradually became the mainstream material for Chinese jade. The "Six Treasures of Weiling," which are the most difficult to borrow, are made of Hetian jade, combining realism and spirituality! With the opening of the Maritime Silk Road, organic gemstones such as amber and agate began to be incorporated into the Chinese jade system. During the Western Han dynasty, the government established 49 ironworks nationwide. The artistic achievements of Han jade craftsmen are closely related to the use of iron tools. The "seal" (used exclusively by emperors and kings) and "stamp" (used by officials and private individuals) of the Han dynasty were symbols of power and trust. The material and shape of official seals were clearly regulated according to rank; most seals had knobs for attaching ribbons. The forms of seal knobs generally include: inverted bucket knobs, bridge-shaped knobs, turtle knobs, and chi-tiger knobs, with inscriptions in both positive and negative forms.
