Not wanting to be ripped off, I decided to check in to this state guesthouse by West Lake, which still had a reasonable price. Unexpectedly, it brought a pleasant surprise. Historical Background: Formerly the Third Guesthouse of the Hangzhou Government, every historical building here is a piece of solidified memory. From the imperial garden of the Southern Song Dynasty to the Xia Family Garden (residence of Xia Chao, Governor of Zhejiang Province) in the Republic of China period, Chairman Mao once strolled in the courtyard with Ho Chi Minh to discuss decisions related to the war against American aggression and to aid Vietnam. Zhou Enlai and Chen Yi also visited here. Public Areas: With the blessing of an excellent geographical location and natural landscape, only slight renovations are needed to achieve a high score. What's more, this garden is well-maintained. The green plants and courtyard layout are very harmonious, highlighting the artistic conception of West Lake. It is only 50m to West Lake on foot, and you can enjoy a pleasant view of Leifeng Pagoda and Three Pools Mirroring the Moon in the distance. Building 3 of the hotel houses the front desk and gym, Building 5 is the dining area, Building 6 is the closest to West Lake and was once the residence of Xia Chao, Building 2 is where breakfast is served, and Building 1 is in the Imperial Garden, which is also where my room 1103 was located this time. The room faces the courtyard and West Lake, which is a nice room type. The ordinary decoration of the lobby and each building doesn't seem so important anymore. Service: Pretty good, C5 level service. The front desk is very enthusiastic, and there are also Citywalk activities. The drinks in the mini bar are free, but there aren't many and they are quite simple. Then, the hotel's check-out time of 12:00 is relatively early, because business is good and there are only 90+ rooms, so it is difficult to request a late check-out. Room: The facilities are all good, the bedding is very comfortable, the bathrooms are fine, and there is also a Dyson hair dryer. The curtain switch is a bit difficult to use. Overall, this is a hotel that I really like. The excellent scenery and geographical location are destined to surpass 90% of other hotels that lack innate geographical advantages.
