A Day Trip to Harbin Ice Park

#discoverchina For a day trip to Harbin Ice Park, also known as the Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival, here’s a suggested itinerary: Morning: 1. Breakfast – Start your day with a hearty breakfast at your hotel or a local café. 2. Departure to Harbin Ice Festival – Head straight to the Harbin Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival site, usually located in Zhaolin Park or the Ice and Snow World (these are two major venues). It’s best to visit the Ice and Snow World in the morning when it’s less crowded. Late Morning: 3. Ice and Snow Sculpture World – Explore the grand sculptures made from ice and snow. These elaborate works of art are lit up in the evenings, but they are also stunning during daylight hours. Expect large ice castles, animals, and impressive structures. • Time to spend: 2-3 hours 4. Snow Sculpture Art Expo – If you’re interested in seeing intricate snow sculptures, head over to the Snow Sculpture Art Expo located at Sun Island (optional depending on time). Lunch: 5. Lunch at a local restaurant – Enjoy some local Harbin specialties like Russian-style dumplings, Harbin sausage, and cold noodles. Afternoon: 6. Zhaolin Park – Visit Zhaolin Park, which features smaller ice sculptures and is also a more relaxed environment for a stroll. The park is known for its peaceful atmosphere and beautiful views of the sculptures. • Time to spend: 1 hour 7. Visit St. Sophia Cathedral (optional) – If you have some extra time and are interested in culture, stop by St. Sophia Cathedral, a stunning Russian Orthodox church in the city center. It’s a nice contrast to the ice festival’s art. Evening: 8. Dinner – End your day with a cozy dinner at a local restaurant. You can enjoy hotpot or traditional Russian cuisine. • Recommended spot: Local hotpot or Russian-style restaurants. Additional Tips: • Dress warmly: The temperatures can be very cold, often below freezing, so layering is key. • Camera: Bring a camera to capture the ice sculptures and the beautiful winter scenery. • Time: The festival runs from December to February, with peak ice sculptures being in January.

Harbin Ice and Snow Park

Harbin International Ice is an annual winter festival that takes place in Harbin, China. Now is the largest ice and snow festival in the world. At least it used to be so, last 2 years it's not that great as it used to be (maybe because of covid restrictions (not many people come to visit this festival unlike previous years)). But for sure it's still the most popular winter attraction in China. It's located in the West part of the Sun Island, Songbei District (Ice and snow World subway station, line 2). Harbin Ice and Snow World Ticket Price: In 2022 the price for tickets is 180/person. The most memorable for me was going down the biggest ice slide.. You can't miss this! #icesculptures #harbin #northofchina #wintervibe #themepark
