Izu Bousui: A Healing Experience | Stunning Views The highlight of this trip was Izu, without a doubt. We booked Izu Bousui Onsen Ryokan, and the views and private bath experience were amazing. Scenery The lobby has huge floor-to-ceiling windows with a 270-degree view of the sea. The sunset is stunning. Even though I had seen many photos online, seeing it in person was still breathtaking. Every photo was amazing. Outside the window is the vast Pacific Ocean, and the view changes with the sunlight throughout the day, with sparkling waves. Private Bath We chose a premium private bath (90 mins) and got a free regular private bath (50 mins). The premium private bath we chose was "AO NO IZANAI." It was an amazing experience with a wide view of the Pacific Ocean. We chose the time slot from 2 pm to 3:30 pm, before sunset, but the blue scenery was also beautiful. The hotel also provided various drinks to enjoy, and the 90 mins were enough to heal the fatigue of the journey. Even though I had seen many photos, experiencing it in person was still amazing! The regular private bath we chose was "AO NO IZANAI." Overall, the bath was relatively small, and the view was not as wide (180-degree view of the sea), and the drinks provided were relatively limited. But honestly, the regular private bath experience was also great! If we had experienced the regular one first, we would have been just as amazed. We chose the time slot from 8:10 am to 9 am, and the sun was quite strong. If you want to see the sunrise, I suggest going earlier. Meals We chose the standard one-night, two-meal plan. Dinner was kaiseki cuisine, which was quite standard, with various fish and meat, but it didn't seem very fresh. However, there were many options, and we were full. Breakfast was rich and varied, and we were quite satisfied. If you have high expectations for meals, you can choose to pay extra for more advanced cuisine when booking. Snacks Snacks and drinks in the lobby are free to take. We had the best sweet potato fries of our lives on this trip. They were really delicious! We could have been full just from eating these. When we were leaving, we found that the small shop also sold them! We regretted not taking a few more bags! Later, when we returned to Tokyo, we saw similar fried dough sticks, but they didn't taste as good as the ones in Izu. They were crispier and not as sweet. Overall, we loved them. Izu's specialty orange juice is also available for free, and it tastes good. Transportation The hotel provides a free shuttle bus from Izu Atagawa Station, a 10-minute drive, which is very convenient.
